Mike Evans 2021 Outlook: Model of Consistency Makes for No-Doubt WR2
4 years agoMike Evans continued his streak of 1,000-yard receiving seasons with a seventh straight effort in 2020. It took a monstrous late-season stretch to get there but that just served to make his fantasy owners happier as he dominated in the playoffs with six catches for 110 yards in Week 15 and a 10-181-2 line in Week 16. Some worried that the emergence of Chris Godwin, the addition of Antonio Brown, and the return of Rob Gronkowski would limit Evans' production but he still wound up as the Bucs' leading receiver. His target total did drop to a career-low 109 and may never get back to what it was during the Jameis Winston era but his 64.2% catch rate was a career-best as were his 13 touchdowns. What Evans isn't getting in volume, he's making up for in efficiency with Tom Brady as his QB. There are few receivers who have proven so consistent for the past several years, making Evans a worry-free high-end WR2 taken on average as the WR13 in early drafts.
