Michael Pineda Tosses Seven Shutout Innings In No-Decision

Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Michael Pineda had his best outing of the season despite not factoring into the decision. Pineda pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing two hits and a walk while striking out six batters. The 32-year-old right-hander was missing bats all afternoon, as he generated 15 whiffs, 10 of them coming on his slider. Pineda left the game in line for the win, though the Twins' bullpen, namely Hansel Robles and Taylor Rogers, couldn't hold the lead for him. Still, he's looked quite impressive through three starts, with a 1.00 ERA and a 17:3 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 17 innings pitched. Up next is a matchup against the Athletics on April 21. It's a good matchup for Pineda, as the Athletics have posted the 10th-worst strikeout rate in the majors so far.
