Michael Kopech To Make Spring Debut Sunday
2 years agoChicago White Sox right-hander Michael Kopech (knee, shoulder) is scheduled to make his Cactus League debut on Sunday and start against the San Diego Padres. He will throw just two innings in the contest. The White Sox have taken a cautious approach with Kopech, who is dealing with multiple injuries this spring. If he doesn't have any setbacks in camp, he should have time to build himself up for Opening Day. The 26-year-old has also been working to use his changeup more in 2023 to complement his fastball, slider and curveball. Kopech made only 19 starts for Chicago in 2022, but he was effective with a 3.54 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and career-high 105 K's in 119 1/3 innings. Perhaps increased changeup usage will unlock more in his profile for fantasy managers.
