Michael Fulmer's Success Depends On A Healthy Elbow
7 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Michael Fulmer was named the American League Rookie of the Year in 2016, and was following that up with a solid 2017 campaign before suffering an elbow injury that ended his season. The talented youngster notched a 3.83 ERA over 164 and 2/3 innings of work last season and notched quality starts in all but three first-half appearances last year. Fulmer was experiencing tingling and numbness that had resulted from his ulnar nerve being restricted, and had surgery in September to fix the issue. All signs point to Fulmer being ready in time for spring training, which is good news for a Tigers team that will count on him to be the ace of their staff. If he bounces back healthy and contributes at the same rate as last year, he's in the sixth tier for starting pitchers and should be targeted in rounds 12 through 15 in your upcoming drafts.
