Michael Brantley, Jason Castro Progressing
4 years agoHouston Astros manager Dusty Baker said that outfielder Michael Brantley (hamstring) is hitting and running on the field. Baker said that Brantley probably will not require a minor league rehab assignment before he returns to the major league roster, which could come early on the next road trip. Catcher Jason Castro (Achilles) is "a little further behind" Brantley. The left-handed hitting Brantley doesn't provide a ton of power (just three home runs), but he was hitting .305 (51-for-167) with 14 doubles and 15 RBI before his injury, making him valuable to fantasy managers for his high average and on-base percentage (.346). Chas McCormick has been the beneficiary of most of the playing time in left field. Castro is having a solid year, slashing .271/.397/.479 with two homers and eight RBI in just 48 at-bats, but he lacks fantasy appeal as the second backstop behind Martin Maldonado when healthy.
