Melvin Gordon III Misses Practice With Hip Ailment
3 years agoDenver Broncos running back Melvin Gordon III (hip) was unable to practice on Wednesday due to a new hip injury. Gordon played through leg and rib issues the last two weeks and saw single-digit carries (nine each) in the last two games while continuing to split the touches and snaps almost dead even with rookie backfield mate Javonte Williams. Gordon has found the end zone twice, but he hasn't been as efficient or explosive as the younger Williams. If the 28-year-old continues to fight through injuries, it could be the nail in Gordon's fantasy coffin if the Denver coaching staff starts to give Williams more work. Until this backfield usage changes, both Gordon and Williams will be more of RB3/flex options, including in Week 6 against the division-rival Raiders. If Gordon were to sit, Williams would be a strong RB2 choice.
