Melvin Gordon III Carries The Offense Against Chiefs
4 years agoDenver Broncos running back Melvin Gordon III looked excellent in the 22-16 loss to the division-rival Chiefs on Sunday night in Week 13. Gordon carried the ball 15 times for a season-high 131 rushing yards (8.73 yards per attempt) while also adding one catch for 11 yards. It was a great performance and allowed Denver to keep Patrick Mahomes off the field for long stretches of time as they came close to an upset. Gordon had the most rushing yards in the first half (105) of any Denver running back since Knowshon Moreno in 2013. The 27-year-old has been hard to trust while sharing touches with Phillip Lindsay, though, and he's scored just twice since Week 8. However, he'll once again have RB2 upside in Week 14 against a Panthers Defense that continues to struggle to stop the run.
