Mavericks Wanted To Bring In Clint Capela
1 year agoAtlanta Hawks center Clint Capela was involved in trade talks with the Dallas Mavericks ahead of this week's draft, but the two teams couldn't agree on a deal. The Mavericks were vulnerable under the rim all year last season and Capela would've been a great pick-up for the team, but when the two sides were talking about a deal involving the 10th and 15th picks, the Hawks wanted to move John Collins instead of Capela. According to NBA insider Marc Stein, Atlanta offered to package John Collins and the No. 15 pick for Davis Bertans and the No. 10 pick. Dallas asked for Capela instead of Collins, but the Hawks were only willing to agree to the trade if Dallas included Josh Green in the deals. The talks reportedly ended well before the start of the draft. The Mavericks ended up strengthening their center position with Dereck Lively II from the draft and added Richaun Holmes with a trade from Sacramento.
