Matt Manning To Pitch In Second Game Of Doubleheader
9 months agoDetroit Tigers right-hander Matt Manning will be called up from Triple-A Toledo to start Game 2 of the team's doubleheader versus the New York Mets on Thursday. The second straight postponement against the Mets on Wednesday will mean that left-hander Tarik Skubal will presumably start the home opener in an excellent matchup on Friday against the visiting Oakland Athletics. The 26-year-old Manning is essentially the team's No. 6 starter but was forced to open the regular season in the minors. He will be a deep-league and DFS streaming sleeper in the early going against New York after allowing one run and striking out seven in five innings in his first start for Toledo last Friday. Expect Manning to be sent back to the minors following Thursday's start.
