Masahiro Tanaka Delivers Win On Opening Day
Masahiro Tanaka delivered a winning performance, leading the Yankees to a 7-2 victory. The 30-year-old allowed two runs, one earned, in 5 2/3 innings of work. Considering how vaunted the Yankee bullpen is, he was always going to be on a short leash and so he was removed with his club up by four runs. Tanaka allowed six hits, walked none and struck out five. While at full strength the Yankees would use him as a number two starter, he was more than serviceable filling in as a number one.
