Martin Truex Jr. Finishes Where He Began Sunday
2 years agoMartin Truex Jr. qualified fifth for the Enjoy Illinois 300. After 243 laps, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver finished in fifth. The No. 19 car never led a lap and Truex Jr. only managed a fourth in Stage 1. He did move up late and showed some good acceleration over the final quarter of the race. Unlike Ryan Blaney who fell back late despite leading 83 laps, Truex Jr. stayed steady. It is that consistency which keeps the New Jersey native fourth in the points standings heading to Sonoma.
