Martin Maldonado Doubles RBI Total
6 years agoKansas City Royals catcher Martin Maldonado usually has a limited offensive impact, but this season has been especially quiet as he entered Sunday's contest with the Yankees with just one home run and three RBI. Those were both doubled in the second inning when Maldonado deposited a hanging breaking ball in the camera well in left field to get the Royals on the board. After a couple of limited "breakout" seasons with the Angels, Maldonado appears to have returned to the offensive approach he had in 2016 with the Brewers, walking 10% of the time and barely keeping his batting average above the Mendoza line. There's not much value in that outside of deep two-catcher leagues, but for those who are subjected to such lineup requirements, Maldonado's not the worst option available.
