Martavis Bryant 2018 Player Outlook: New Team, Still Boom-Bust
6 years agoThe Oakland Raiders traded significant draft capital to acquire wide receiver Martavis Bryant in the offseason, sending a 2018 third-round pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for the talented wideout. A player with plenty of preseason hype in 2017, Bryant was one of fantasy's bigger disappointments last year. He lost his job to rookie Juju Smith-Schuster midway through the season and was benched for one game by the team for using social media to air his grievances about his reduced role. Now in Oakland, Bryant will be the third option in the passing game yet again as he will be competing for targets behind team cornerstone Amari Cooper and former Green Bay star Jordy Nelson. Another concern is the rumor that popped up in June that Bryant had failed another drug test. It is unclear if the report is true but it is a concern for a player with a checkered past such as Bryant. Steer clear in drafts until it is certain he won't be suspended, and if so, treat him as a late-round flier with upside who you can easily cut if he isn't getting targets.
