Mark Ingram 2019 Outlook: Given The Reigns Of A Backfield
6 years agoBaltimore Ravens running back Mark Ingram has finally been given the reigns of a backfield, and a backfield that has traditionally been successful for fantasy. Ingram leaves New Orleans where he was part of a very capable one-two punch with Alvin Kamara to become the lead back in Baltimore. The Ravens became one of the heaviest rushing teams once they changed quarterback from Joe Flacco to then-rookie Lamar Jackson. Part of that was the accuracy of Jackson left a lot to be desired, frustrating receiver John Brown who was having a successful start to the season. Baltimore has seen changes this offseason, with Ingram being brought in, and the team adding receiving talent through the draft with Marquise Brown and Miles Boykin. The biggest change has been the defensive talent that has moved out of town, meaning that the Ravens may find themselves having to trust the arm of Jackson, rather than his legs. Ingram is an effective pass catcher, as well as a great goal-line back, meaning that Ingram is likely to be on the field more often than not. Given the volume that Ingram is likely to have, if he is able to stay on the field, then he is likely to exceed 1,000 rushing yards, 400-500 receiving yards, as well as having the ability to score double-digit touchdowns. Ingram could well be a league winner for fantasy owners with where they are able to pick him up. At the very least he is a great RB2 for teams that have drafted aa running back early, and a top option for teams who have adopted a zero-RB strategy.
