Marco Gonzales Receives Good News
7 years agoUpdating a previous report, Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Marco Gonzales (thumb), who left his spring start Monday night after taking a line drive to to the base of his left thumb, said initial scans showed no broken bones. "We don't know the full extent of it, but I don't think there are any breaks," Gonzales said. His hand is heavily wrapped and he will undergo more tests Tuesday. Gonzales and the Mariners seem to have dodged a bullet. The young left-hander appears to be the team's sixth starter/swingman to open the season, but he could be the first one called upon if a starter is injured or ineffective.
