Manny Machado Loses Eight-Game Hitting Streak
6 years agoSan Diego Padres shortstop Manny Machado snapped an eight-game hitting streak on Wednesday, going 0-for-2 with two walks against the New York Yankees. Machado has now owned hitting streaks of 11 and eight games in May with an .890 OPS and ten extra-base knocks. Machado has been a solid player in his first season in San Diego but has underwhelmed as a unanimous top-tier fantasy player. While Machado has nine homers and 54 runs-plus-RBI, he’s struggled with strikeouts and ranks all the way down at 49th in the NL in slugging percentage. Encouragingly, Machado’s expected stats have begun creeping up in recent weeks so owners have cause to be optimistic.
