With the 30th and final picked in the first-round of the 2024 MLB Draft, the defending champion Texas Rangers selected catcher Malcolm Moore out of Stanford University. Moore, 20, was one of the top eligible high-school prospects in 2022, but elected to attend Stanford, where had mixed results. Moore has a good approach at the plate with elite chase rates and swing-and-miss rates in the batter's zone, while also hitting the ball hard. The backstop's biggest flaw amongst scouts has been his defense and it wouldn't be a surprise if he moves position in the Rangers system. Regardless, his bat is likely the biggest reason he was selected to end the first-round of the 2024 MLB Draft.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBallerRead More News
