MacKenzie Gore To Start Wednesday Against Yankees
1 year agoWashington Nationals left-hander MacKenzie Gore (finger) is scheduled to start on Wednesday against the New York Yankees in the Bronx. Gore has been dealing with a nail issue and a blister on his left index finger, but apparently it won't be enough to keep him out this week. The 24-year-old's finger issue was a problem for him in his last outing on Aug. 16 against the Boston Red Sox, although he still tossed 6 1/3 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts. He's gone 6-9 in his first year with the Nats with a 4.38 ERA (4.48 FIP), 1.38 WHIP, 52 walks and 141 strikeouts in 123 1/3 innings over his 24 starts. In six starts since the All-Star break, Gore has allowed 16 earned runs on 26 hits (seven homers) while walking 13 and fanning 33 in 33 2/3 innings. He'll get a Yankees team on the ropes this week.
