Luis Garcia Picks Up Save Saturday
7 years agoAnother day, another pitcher picks up a save for the Philadelphia Phillies. Luis Garcia picked up his first save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning Saturday against the Toronto Blue Jays. You really never know who manager Gabe Kapler will turn to in the ninth, and this time it was Garcia. He is one of four pitchers who have picked up saves recently for Philadelphia, as Kapler has been using different guys for specific matchups in the ninth. It has worked for his team, but is frustrating for fantasy owners. Hector Neris still leads the team in saves, and is the most likely option for them going forward, but it will be difficult to rely on any of these pitchers for saves. Seranthony Dominguez picked up the victory with 1.1 innings of scoreless ball, and still hasn't surrendered a run this season. You probably don't need to run to the wire to pick up Garcia, but he is worth monitoring now as he is in the hunt for saves for Philadelphia.
