Luis Castillo Finishes First Half On A High Note
5 months agoSeattle Mariners starting pitcher Luis Castillo continued his strong season by picking up his eighth victory of the season in an 11-0 blowout victory against the division rival Los Angeles Angels. Castillo was not needed deep into the contest with such a big lead, but he was productive in his six innings of work. Over that span, he allowed four hits, zero runs, two walks and struck out five on the evening. The veteran entered the season with the expectation of being of the first pitchers selected in 2024 drafts and has backed up his performance this year with a 3.53 ERA and 116 strikeouts over 117 1/3 innings. The only flaw, if there is one with Castillo is that the Mariners offense could hold him back from getting more victories. Outside of that, he can safely be ranked as a top tier pitcher the rest of the way.
