Lorenzo Cain Still Has Speed And Some Pop
7 years agoLorenzo Cain just got a significant upgrade during the offseason by signing to play at Miller Park. Cain should be able to carry the momentum from 2017 and maintain, if not improve, his stats. His first overall success in 2017 was staying healthy the entire year. Cain does exactly what you expect from a guy batting leadoff or in the second spot in the lineup, getting on base and into scoring position. He had a slash line of .300 average, .363 on-base percentage, and .440 slugging in 2017 that helped him accomplish that task. Cain is a line-drive hitter (22.6%), but found a way to hit 15 home runs. Expect him to also increase his stolen bases (26) under new management. Cain will continue to mainly provide runs, stolen bases, and average, which is a good option near the eighth round. If you know from the start your dynasty team will not be competitive, find a trade partner willing to pay for his power/speed combination in a good park and lineup. If you wait until after this year, Cain will fall into the “aging players” category; managers are skeptical of trading for these players, even with a stellar 2018.
