Leonys Martin Offers Little Fantasy Value
7 years agoWhen the Detroit Tigers signed outfielder Leonys Martin, it was strictly a defensive move. The 29-year-old has never done much with the stick, and last year was no exception. He hit an abysmal .172 over the course of 49 games, due in large part to the fact that he only made hard contact 25.3% of the time and put the ball on the ground 46% of the time. Martin does have the ability to swipe 20 or more bags, and has notched as many as 36 steals in a season, but that was way back in 2013. If you play in a very deep or an AL-only league, and you're in desperate--and I do mean desperate--need of speed in the very late rounds, then Martin might be worth a look. Otherwise, leave him alone come draft day.
