Lance McCullers Could Thrive In Number Four Slot In Rotation
7 years agoHouston Astros right-handed starter Lance McCullers' 2017 season was filled with high's and lows. He pitched like an All-Star the first two months of the season, racking up seven wins and his potential appeared to be sky high. But a back injury landed him on the disabled list and then he attempted to returned too early and the injury landed him back on the shelf a second time. When he finally returned to the mound he had some struggles, allowing 25 runs in his final 27 1/3 innings of the regular season. But McCullers rebounded in the playoffs, pitching 20 2/3 innings, striking out 19, posting a 2.61 ERA and even earning a save. McCullers is a true gamer who sometimes lets his emotions take away from his focus on the mound. He has the potential to be a top of the line starter but he will slot in as the number four in the revamped Astros rotation. McCullers will have excellent value at that spot and could emerge as one of the best back-half rotation starters in all of baseball.
