Kyle Manzardo 2023 MLB Player Outlook: Elite Bat But When Do We See Him?
2 years agoThe hype surrounding Tampa Bay Rays first baseman Kyle Manzardo right now is increasing by the day. In the wake of Kansas City Royals first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino's 2021 breakout, Manzardo himself broke out in a major way last season, pushing himself into the top 10 overall prospect discussion. In 397 plate appearances, Manzardo posted a stellar .327/.426/.617 slash line with 26 doubles, 22 home runs, and nearly as many walks (59) as strikeouts (65). Manzardo's blend of contact skills, approach, and power is nearly unmatched in the minor leagues right now and makes him an incredibly desirable target in dynasty leagues. We're talking about a player that could realistically flirt with or surpass a .300 AVG and .400 OBP while exceeding 25 home runs on an annual basis. The real question is, how much will he play this season? After reaching and excelling in Double-A last season, Manzardo will likely open the 2023 campaign in Triple-A while simultaneously knocking loudly on the door to Tampa Bay's lineup. With a strong showing in Spring Training and the beginning of the minor league season, Manzardo will likely force his way into Tampa Bay's lineup by the All-Star Break and will have immediate fantasy appeal once that happens.
