Knicks Emerging As Favorites For Jalen Brunson
2 years agoThe New York Knicks have emerged as the favorites to land free-agent guard Jalen Brunson. On Tuesday, it was announced that the team was trading center Nerlens Noel and guard Alec Burks to the Detroit Pistons, clearing up $19 million in salary cap space. Sources of ESPN report that following this salary cap dump, the Knicks are prepared to offer Brunson a contract "in the neighborhood of $110 million." Brunson took a major step forward last year, as he averaged career-highs in both points per game (16.3) and assists per game (4.8) while shooting 50.2% from the field and 84% from the free-throw strike. He would bring much-needed stability to a Knicks backcourt that has been plagued by turnover, injuries and inconsistency for the past several years.
