Khalil Mack Could Miss Regular Season Games

The Oakland Raiders and defensive end Khalil Mack have made zero progress in contract negotiations, and it's now likely to end with Mack missing regular season games, according to sources familiar with the stalemate. As of Monday night, sources said both sides remained in a standoff and in the same spot in negotiations since February. Mack is seeking a long-term deal that would make him the highest paid defender in the NFL, but the Raiders are unwilling to give it to him. One source said the situation has devolved into a "pay-him-or-trade-him" conversation. While head coach Jon Gruden isn't directly involved in negotiations, he must sign off on any deal. This situation is getting ugly, but it's hard to imagine Mack missing too many regular season games, if any. Without one of the NFL's best pass rushers, Oakland's defense could be in serious trouble.
