Khalil Herbert 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook: Is Herbert the Preferred Jonathan Taylor Handcuff?
Khalil Herbert signed a one-year deal with the Indianapolis Colts this offseason. It looked as though Herbert was primed to back up starter Jonathan Taylor. However, the team also drafted rookie D.J. Giddens in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Giddens has supposedly turned heads throughout the offseason program. That means Herbert will likely be in some type of competition for the RB2 job this summer. Herbert will hold the experience edge over the rookie and has always performed well when given the chance to play. Giddens looks like stiff competition, though, so there's a very real chance Herbert begins the year as the team's RB3. If Herbert does hold off Giddens for the RB2 job, he would be the priority handcuff for Taylor managers. This is a battle fantasy gamers should closely monitor throughout training camp, as whichever player wins the RB2 job would see a spike in value if Taylor goes down with an injury. For now, we'll give the edge to Herbert, but don't write it in stone.
