Ketel Marte Was Plenty Productive When Healthy
3 years agoArizona Diamondbacks outfielder Ketel Marte hit .318 with a .377 on-base percentage, 14 home runs, and two stolen bases in 374 plate appearances last season. The 28-year-old missed time due to a hamstring strain but was immensely productive when on the field. Despite being sidelined due to injury, some of Marte's advanced hitting metrics like barrel rate, xBA, and xwOBA were in the same ballpark as they were during his breakout 2019 campaign. Of course, numbers like barrel rate, xBA, and xwOBA aren't stats that are used in scoring for fantasy, but it's worth noting that he hit .329 with 32 home runs and 10 stolen bases in 638 plate appearances in that aforementioned 2019 campaign. Provided he plays a full slate of games, Marte has a real shot of replicating those 2019 metrics if he carries over his form from last season. Only seven players have hit at least .300 with a minimum of 30 home runs and 10 steals in a season since 2016. Marte is one of those seven and the only one who can play the infield. The versatile Marte currently has an average draft position of 85 right now according to NFBC. If you can draft him around pick there, you'll be taking a player with immense upside who could end up being a steal.
