Kendall Graveman 2023 Fantasy Outlook: Low-End Closing Option With Limited Upside
2 years agoIn his first season with the Chicago White Sox in 2022, reliever Kendall Graveman had a respectable 3.18 ERA (3.42 FIP), 1.40 WHIP, six saves and 66 strikeouts in 65 relief innings. The 32-year-old right-hander wasn't quite as good as he was the year before in Seattle and Houston, but he was still extremely valuable for the White Sox and in holds leagues with an American League-leading 27 of them. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect him to be as dominant as he was in 2021, and injuries have been a concern of his in the last four seasons. Closer Liam Hendriks' cancer diagnosis will likely push Graveman into the primary closer position in Chicago, though, so he will have some fantasy appeal in deeper leagues for what will likely be an uptick in save opportunities in addition to holds.
