Keenan Allen 2022 Outlook: Consistently Productive
3 years agoLos Angeles Chargers wideout Keenan Allen may not be as flashy as some of the other receivers in the league, but that shouldn't detract from his fantasy outlook. Allen has been arguably the most consistent wide receiver in fantasy over the past five seasons; in that span, he has made between 97 and 106 receptions each year. Also importantly, he has missed just four games in those five seasons, allowing him to shake the "injury-prone" label that he had been given earlier in his career. As the top receiving option in an electric offense centered around a promising young quarterback in Justin Herbert, there's no reason to expect 2022 to deviate from the norm for Allen. That's not to say that he's a top-tier pick though. His 10.7 yards per reception were just 79th among receivers in 2021, and his 7.2 yards per target were merely 68th. He definitely leaves fantasy points on the table by simply not being as much of a vertical threat as other options. Nonetheless, his target volume makes him a borderline WR1 as it is. He has been drafted as the WR11 since May, which is exactly where he finished in PPR formats a year ago. Anyone who drafts Allen will be sacrificing upside for a high floor. His current price is certainly reasonable for any manager who chooses to employ that strategy.
