KaVontae Turpin's Return Job Is Safe
1 year agoDallas Cowboys wide receiver KaVontae Turpin is the team's full-time return man on special teams heading into the 2023 regular season, and special teams coordinator John Fassel expects Turpin to have an even bigger season this year in the return game as he continues to pick up a role on offense. "I see him as the guy who's returning kickoffs and punts, and as Deuce Vaughn continues to get some work, he'll be right there too to give us an extra guy," Fassel said. "Going into the season, you always want at least two guys that can do it. I think we actually have more than two." The 27-year-old was a Pro Bowler on special teams in his rookie season in 2022 after returning 21 kickoffs for 508 yards and 29 punts for 303 yards in 17 games. On offense, though, he caught just one of two targets for nine yards and carried the ball three times for 17 yards.
