Kalen Ballage 2019 Player Outlook: Poised To Take A Step Forward
6 years agoSophomore running back Kalen Ballage impressed in limited action in 2018, rumbling to 5.3 yards per carry over 36 rushes while also tacking on nine catches for 56 yards. Ballage had two games with double-digit carries, and in Week 15 against the Vikings he turned 12 carries into 123 yards and a score. With Frank Gore no longer a factor in Miami and the franchise in full rebuild mode, expect Ballage to take over as the primary mail-carrier in South Beach while Kenyan Drake handles the bulk of the receiving work and spells Ballage on the ground. Given the holes in the Dolphins roster, don't expect Ballage to ascend into the top 20 running backs in 2019, but he should carry legitimate flex value throughout 2019 with the opportunity for much more should Kenyan Drake miss time at any point.
