Playing in his first game of 2019-20, veteran winger Justin Williams clinched the shootout win for Carolina over the New York Islanders. The final score was 2-1. Williams will look to provide leadership down the stretch for the Hurricanes but he also has 786 points in 1,245 games. He scored 23 goals in 82 games last season. Andrei Svechnikov notched his 19th goal during regulation. It was his first goal in seven games. He now has 43 points in 49 games. Goalie James Reimer was excellent in net for the third straight game by stopping 26 of 27 shots. He’s now allowed just three goals over the last three contests spanning 105 shots.
