Justin Fields Excelling On Play-Action Passes
3 years agoChicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields has struggled so far in his first seven NFL games (five starts), but he has been much better on play-action passes. The first-round rookie has gone 21-for-32 for 244 yards and a touchdown on play-action passes this year, completing 65.6% of his passes for 7.6 yards per attempt, no interceptions and a 99.0 passer rating. When not running play-action, Fields has completed only 54.5% of his passes for 5.8 yards per attempt with one touchdown, six interceptions and a 49.7 passer rating. The 22-year-old went 22-for-32 for 184 yards and four turnovers (three interceptions) in the blowout loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 7. Fields hasn't handled pressure well and took another four sacks. It's been a trial by fire so far for Fields and the Bears, and while better days are ahead, fantasy managers cannot trust him as anything more than a low-end QB2.
