Josh Okogie 2019-2020 Player Outlook
5 years agoMinnesota Timberwolves shooting guard Josh Okogie may have been a rookie last year but he played defense like a veteran. Once Timberwolves coach Tom Thibodeau was replaced by Ryan Saunders on January 8, 2019, Okogie averaged 1.4 steals and .5 blocks per game. For steals that was 25th best in the league and the .5 blocks, a game was the sixth-best for shooting guards from January 8 to the end of the season. The unfortunate thing is Okogie isn't very good at offense having averaged just 8.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.3 assists a contest. These paltry offensive stats are even worse when considering Okogie shot 40.3 percent from the field and a feeble 29.9 percent from three-point range. Fantasy players should view Okogie the way that Memphis Grizzlies shooting guard Tony Allen was. An outstanding perimeter defender that helps his team considerably but for fantasy players isn't even roster-able. With the Timberwolves drafting shooting guard Jarrett Culver and Okogie only getting 7.5 field goal attempts a game from January eighth on don't expect Okogie to set the fantasy world on fire in 2019-2020.
