Josh Hader 2021 Outlook: More Decline Ahead?
4 years agoMilwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Josh Hader saw a decline in almost every category in the shortened 2020 season, and there's reason to believe his decline may continue through 2021. Hader still saved 13 games and struck out batters at a 39.7% clip, but his 3.79 ERA and 4.03 FIP were both concerning and career highs. His walk rate was the highest of his career and he got lucky with a .161 BABIP but still put up fairly pedestrian numbers, especially for what we've become accustomed to seeing from him. There are rumors that the Brewers may try to move on from Hader before the season begins, and any dynasty or keeper managers who roster Hader may want to do the same while his name recognition still boosts his trade value. Hader should still end up somewhere in the middle of the pack of fantasy closers at worst, but he may not sniff the top tier again.
