Josh Donaldson Projected To Start At 3B For Yankees
2 years agoNew York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said that third baseman Josh Donaldson projects to be the team's starter at third base in 2023 despite hitting .222 with 15 home runs in 2022 in his first year in the Bronx. Donaldson has one year and at least $27 million left on his deal, but the Yankees have explored trading him. Hitting coach Dillon Lawson said that the 37-year-old has been working hard to get back into top form. He saw his walk and strikeout rates go in the wrong direction last year, and his power and on-base percentage also took a dive. Health is also a question as he nears the end of his career. The three-time All-Star and former American League MVP could bounce back in 2023, but there's reason to believe that last year was the beginning of more decline.
