Jose Suarez Shut Down On Rehab Assignment
1 year agoLos Angeles Angels left-hander Jose Suarez (shoulder) was shut down on his minor-league rehab assignment due to left-shoulder soreness. Manager Phil Nevin said the team isn't concerned that it will keep Suarez out much longer, but it's a setback nonetheless. Before getting shut down, the 25-year-old southpaw made two appearances in the Arizona Complex League, giving up a run on five hits while walking two and striking out four in 3 1/3 innings. Suarez should be able to return in 2023, but it might not be until September after this setback. In six starts this year, he hasn't been very good, yielding a 9.62 ERA and 2.14 WHIP with 21 strikeouts in 24 1/3 innings pitched.
