Jose Quintana Agrees With Angels
4 years agoThe Los Angeles Angels agreed to a one-year, $8 million deal with veteran left-hander Jose Quintana on Tuesday, according to a source. Quintana pitched under current Angels manager Joe Maddon when he was the skipper for the Cubs. The southpaw was limited to 10 innings in the shortened 2020 season after having thumb surgery. The 31-year-old averaged 32 starts from 2013 to 2019, posting a 3.72 ERA with a 3.23 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Quintana will join an Angels rotation that includes Andrew Heaney, Dylan Bundy, Griffin Canning and potentially Shohei Ohtani. The veteran lefty hasn't made much of an impact for fantasy managers in recent seasons, mainly because of his pedestrian strikeout numbers (7.9 career K/9 in 1,495 innings over 247 starts). In standard-sized leagues, you can do much better than Quintana at the tail end of drafts for rotation depth.
