Jordan Zimmermann Set For Another Rehab Outing
6 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Jordan Zimmermann (elbow) threw 35 pitches in a rain-shortened rehab start on Saturday for High-A Lakeland, and manager Ron Gardenhire said "he will be back out there in another three or four days." Zimmermann allowed two runs on two hits while striking out two and figures to return to the team's rotation before the end of the month. "We might have to extend (the rehab assignment) because he didn’t feel great as far as his mechanics. We will have to play it by ear and see how he feels," Gardenhire said. The veteran right-hander is 0-4 on the year and has a scary 5.93 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 21 strikeouts in 30 1/3 innings over six starts in 2019. He should be avoided in most leagues when he returns.
