Jordan Zimmermann Fires One-Hit Gem
Jordan Zimmermann took the hill on Opening Day and retired the first 20 batters he faced, carrying a perfect game into the seventh inning. That bid for perfection was ultimately undone by a two-out single by Brandon Drury, but Zimmermann escaped the inning unscathed. He finished the day with the lone hit in seven full innings of work, striking out four. Given his struggles in recent years it would be best to proceed cautiously with Zimmermann, but it was certainly an encouraging sign.
