Jordan Romano To Resume Throwing
6 months agoToronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider said on Saturday that closer Jordan Romano (elbow), who received an anti-inflammatory injection in his right elbow on June 2, will resume throwing on Monday. The plan is to get Romano out to 150 feet and proceed to mound work from there. The 31-year-old right-handed reliever is being brought along slowly after landing on the injured list for the second time already this season, but he could avoid going on a minor-league rehab assignment if the Blue Jays like what they see from him once he starts throwing off the mound and against live hitters in batting practice. Until Romano is able to rejoin Toronto's bullpen, righty Yimi Garcia will operate as the team's closer in the ninth inning. While battling injuries, Romano hasn't been as good as he has been in recent seasons and is currently 1-2 with a 6.59 ERA, a 1.46 WHIP, eight saves and 13 K's in 13 2/3 innings.
