Jordan Poyer 2020 Outlook: Undervalued Safety Continues Growth In Buffalo
5 years agoThe most underappreciated player on Buffalo's stout defense might just be safety Jordan Poyer. His five takeaways last year (two interceptions, three fumble recoveries) tied for 12th-most in the NFL, and he's now had back-to-back seasons with at least 100 combined tackles. Poyer ranked as the eighth-best safety in run defense in 2019. It's why Buffalo re-signed him to a two-year, $20.5 million deal this offseason. The former seventh-round pick has 296 tackles and 11 interceptions in his three years in Buffalo and finished as the No. 5 fantasy defensive back last year. The 29-year-old could easily go overlooked as a top-10 fantasy safety, and he's a fine consolation prize if you miss out on the high-end safeties like Jamal Adams and Derwin James. Playing in Buffalo's nasty defense should continue to make Poyer productive.
