Jordan Montgomery 2023 MLB Player Outlook: Flipping The Script In A New City
2 years agoLeft-hander Jordan Montgomery was the typical unsung success story brought up in the New York Yankees system that had some flourish but nothing too out of the ordinary. Once Montgomery was dealt at the trade deadline to the St Louis Cardinals, the pixie dust began to kick in. The 30-year-old twirled a 3.11 ERA with a 123 ERA+ across 11 starts as a Cardinal. He began to land more strikes and increased his strikeout per nine-inning mark to 8.6. Overall, the southpaw compiled an impressive 2022 campaign, where he molded a 1.09 WHIP with 158 strikeouts and a 21.8% punchout rate. His stuff isn't over the top, but Monty has a confident pep in his step that builds his character. Steamer projects Monty to compose a 3.68 ERA, 21.3% strikeout rate, and a 3.72 xFIP. Most notably, he's given a 169.04 ADP which is an ideal spot to snag him if you're inclined to do so.
