Jonathan Davis Makes Opening Day Roster
4 years agoToronto Blue Jays outfielder Jonathan Davis has made the 26-man roster to begin the 2021 season. The news comes in the wake of George Springer's nagging oblique injury. While the veteran outfielder has been able to still work out and reportedly feels well enough to play, the Blue Jays have played it safe with their free-agent acquisition, who signed a massive six-year deal in the offseason. If Springer is unable to go on opening day, the Blue Jays' starting outfield will likely be comprised of Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Randal Grichuk, and Teoscar Hernandez with Davis on the bench. The 27-year-old outfielder is known mostly for his speed and defensive skills but he had a strong spring at the plate.
