Jonah Heim Back From Paternity List
6 months agoThe Texas Rangers activated catcher Jonah Heim from the paternity list on Tuesday and optioned catcher Sam Huff to Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move. Heim will immediately return to Tuesday's starting lineup against the visiting New York Mets and right-hander Luis Severino, doing the catching for right-hander Michael Lorenzen and batting in the seven-hole. The 28-year-old left-handed-hitting backstop will return to the Rangers after missing the last three games for personal reasons. The former fourth-round pick by the Baltimore Orioles in 2013 is hitting .234 (52-for-222) on the season with six homers and 31 RBI. Heim will be hoping the time away with family can get him out of his June funk, as he's gone 6-for-38 (.158) with a homer, a double, two RBI, two walks and 11 strikeouts in 10 games since the calendar flipped to June.
