Toronto Maple Leafs center John Tavares had a bittersweet meeting with the Islanders on Monday, reaching 1,000 career points with a goal and an assist but losing the game to his former team 4-3 in overtime. Tavares became the sixth player in league history to reach the 1,000-point plateau in a game against a former franchise. Monday also marked a fourth consecutive game with at least one point for Tavares. The Maple Leafs captain has heated up again after finishing off November with only one point in five games. The two-point effort means that Tavares is now on a point-per-game pace for the season, having notched eight goals and 17 assists across 25 appearances.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
