John McMillon Throws Live Batting Practice
10 months agoKansas City Royals right-hander John McMillon (forearm) was scheduled to throw a live batting practice session in camp on Monday. Barring a setback, McMillon could soon make his Cactus League debut. The 26-year-old made his major-league debut in 2023 for the Royals and allowed just one earned run on a solo home run while walking none and striking out eight in four relief innings. However, his rookie season ended early due to a right forearm strain that he's still working through. McMillon has some strikeout upside, but he also had too many walks in the minors. If he's healthy in time for Opening Day, he should find a spot in the big-league bullpen and could eventually be used in late-inning situations for his ability to miss bats.
