Although John Hunter Nemechek has won on this track before in the Craftsman Truck Series as recently as 2021, don't expect JHN to recapture the magic this weekend in the Cook Out 400. Much like Daniel Hemric, Nemechek has struggled significantly to adapt to the Next Gen car because his previous full-time season in 2020 came with the Gen-6 chassis. Nemechek did have the best driver rating of his career on a short track in this year's spring Bristol race, but that race was unlike any other short track race we've seen in this car. Nemechek's performance has picked up in recent races, as he had an average running position of 11th at Indianapolis despite his crash, but success still seems unlikely given his 35th-place qualifying run this weekend, his crash-prone nature, and his career-best Richmond finish of 25th.--Sean Wrona - RotoBaller
