Washington Capitals defenseman John Carlson picked up his 50th assists of the season with a plus-1 rating, a blocked shot and four hits across 23:37 of ice time over 23 shifts in Sunday's 3-1 win against the Winnipeg Jets. Carlson became the third player in franchise history to record consecutive seasons with 50 or more assists, joining Hall of Famers Scott Stevens and Larry Murphy. He has an assist in each of his past three outings, and he'll look to stay hot in Tuesday's road contest against the New York Rangers. --Daniel Dobish
